Visiting Venice is the most inspiring time spent. The pale, shifting light reflecting off the water beautifully illuminates the architecture, and I can still hear the lively sounds of Venetians chatting as their voices reverberate through the narrow streets and canals. I spent several wonderful, immersive days sketching on location, and this oil painting is one of a series of thoughtful studies that came out of that visit.
