The summer has been glorious and continues to be exercising…..

I was recently at a DOG SHOW held on the Great Field of Poundbury. There was a call out for artists but it turned out that I seemed to be the only one! It was a well attended event with loads of activity in all directions and many for the owners to browse and buy. After many sketches and watching the antics of the fellow humans with their cuddly bundles, I’m glad to say that I have the start of a couple of paintings.

The highlight for me wasn’t just the furry friends, but was the musical enetertainment given by the “"Weymouth Ukelaneans”. A group of men and women kept up with great enthusiasm a long list of popular songs and as did the audience. Might have to do an illustration of that too.

Even if you don’t paint or sketch at these events it is a wonderful opportunity to just people watch - and opportunity to really study animated subjects - including the humans going potty about their pets. And at least this time it didn’t rain like it did at Symondsbury last week. There we were, totally occupied by decision making - what colour, where, shadows when they appeared - “what do I see etc?”…. when we were suddenly interrupted by a deluge of heavy rain - all over my bag coat, and of course my ……sketchbook and paints - whoops. Hey ho - such is the joy of painting en plein air. (featured on the front page.)
