Since living in Portland, Dorset I have been impressed and inquisitive about the structure of stone, stone that has been open-mined for many years. There are several now closed (I think only two are active) y can walk through and one “Tout” which has been used for many years by some very well known sculptors and is still a place of learning. There is something very special about this stone - it has been used for centuries by well known architects including Wren. There are numerous buildings in London - of special interest is the Cenotaph - parts of Buckingham Palace.
Being a small tied- island sitting out into the English Channel, it has been a special place for defence and is still used by pilots to check their instruments.
There are a number of places of interest to visitors and I have painted most of them. Prints are available to order in a variety of sizes.
