Blog Post No.4
I don’t suppose anyone noticed, but I have been off line for almost a month. What was a problem with internet access also caused a problem with my laptop which eventually required ”major surgery”. So as you see we are recovering.
The summer has been glorious and despite my problems I have managed to get out and about with my paints working en plein air with fellow artists. And we will be out and about on Saturday in Poundbury. I will be loading up some of the work soon.
I find it a wonderful way to keep your ‘artists’ eye observing the wondrous things we are surrounded by. And really does improve your work.
I did manage to get over to the Lymington Art Group on one of the hottest days. So hot inside that we decided to cut it short. I went with the intention of making quick portrait studies from life to remind people of the usefulness of this practice. It really makes you look closer. And is about getting the general shape right from the start by observing the darks and lights before any skin colours. I had a couple of people sit for me and even amazed myself by getting a good likeness of both - the second in only half-an-hour. But I did appreciate leaving a little early for the long journey home. Thank you Lymoington artists.
