Human features fall into groups of shapes and lighting can change colour of hair and skin, but there is more than this to the human face and figure. Characteristics, personality are all individual and dependent upon many influences such as the weather, health, mood and surroundings. And the same applies to animals. All this has to be seen by the artist, understood, visualised and translated into a painting that is not only physically recognisable, but a sympathetic interpretation with an artist’s eye.
